5. Replace the old belief with a NEW belief that supports you. For example, instead of believing, “I am just a shy person,” create a new belief that says, “I have been confident in the past, which means I’m capable of being confident. I can do so at will as long as I learn how.”

6. Reinforce the new belief. Whenever a disempowering belief shows up, use the “belief-opposition strategy.” Think of the new belief instead and consciously repeat it to yourself. It will force the old belief out. Keep reinforcing the new belief until it’s your automatic response.

7. Take ACTION. Start making the new belief a reality. If your new belief is, “I believe I can become a confident person,” take the first step that shows you can be a confident person. Go talk to someone, sign up to give that presentation at work, or do something that previously made you anxious/nervous. The more action you take in the direction of your belief, the more evidence you have for it, and the stronger it becomes! What action can you take today to make your new belief a reality?
